Immune response! Cedric the devils' saviour?
A Tasmanian devil named Cedric has developed an immune response to devil facial tumour disease.
The three year old captrive bred male was injected with treated tumour cell lines and Cedric produced an antibody to counteract the cancer.
Cedric was collected from Tasmania's north west - a region where scientists believe the devils may be dignificantly genetically distinct from the rest of the island state's population. The region has been the subject of recent news alerts with scientists wanting to build a devil proof fence to protect devils there.
