Political party pledges A$10 million to save the devil

The Australian Labor political party has pledged ten million dollars, over five years, to help save the devil. The commitment comes on the eve of a Federal election and following a number of calls for funding announced in the media over the past two days.

Previously the Tasmanian Greens political party called on the government to commit $50 million over five years and Professor Hamish McCallum of the Save the Devil project called for an immediate injection of $5 million.

Whilst Labor's commitment is welcomed, it still falls short of the figures being requested.

According to the article, Labor party leader Kevin Rudd criticized current prime minister John Howard for laughing in an interview recently despite the plight of the devil.
