Where Devils Run Wild

Not many people realise, but the rumour is true that Steve and Terri Irwin travelled to Tasmania "on a quest to find the Tasmanian tiger". The result was an episode of Crocodile Hunter titled "Where Devils Run Wild".

Amongst thylacine seekers, this episode of Crocodile Hunter is a bit of a holy grail. Some say that they captured the elusive cryptid on film but won't admit to it. Others say they saw the thylacine but didn't get the film. Most agree, however, that no thylacine was seen, but that Steve makes a comment that when you see the extent of the Tasmanian wilderness, it is easy to understand why so many people believe the thylacine might still be out there.

For its legendary status amongst cryptozoologists, that Where Devils Run Wild will soon be screening on Australian (pay) TV is, in fact, newsworthy for that reason.

Apart from its ties to the Tasmanian tiger, true to its title, this episode takes a good look at the Tasmanian devil as well and presents some of the harsh truths surrounding devil facial tumour disease.

"The Crocodile Hunter: Where Devils Run Wild" is screening on Animal Planet on Australian pay TV on:
